Hortensia is a Ph.D. student in the postgraduate program at the Insitute of Ecology in Xalapa, Mexico.  Her research interests include the phylogeny and taxonomy of New World scarabs.  For her dissertation research she is conducting phylogenetic analyses of the world Hopliini and a synopsis of the New World species.
