Brett Ratcliffe is a Professor and Curator in the University of Nebraska State Museum and Department of Entomology. He is a specialist in the taxonomy, biology, ecology, phylogeny, and biogeography of scarab beetles, especially those of the Neotropics. His research interests are in the world dynastine scarab beetles, New World gymnetine scarabs (Cetoniinae), phylogeny of the higher scarabs, and studies of the endangered American burying beetle (Silphidae) in Nebraska. Ratcliffe has conducted research and collected in the Neotropics annually for the past 20 years. He was the winner of the University of Nebraska's 2001 Outstanding Research and Creativity Award (ORCA) for his research with scarab beetles.
